What we’re looking for

The key attributes we’re looking for in the AR/AP Controller role are:

  1. Experience – We need to hire someone with the right level of experience working in changing environments, ideally with experience of working in an international business.
  2. Communication skills – You need to be able to build rapport with a range of people from different companies, countries and backgrounds. Strong listening, questioning and pitching skills are essential.
  3. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) – You need to be able to read our clients and vendors, gauge their tone and sentiment and build relationships quickly. They need to be self-aware and be able to thrive in a range of situations.
  4. Curiosity – We’re in an ever-evolving space and we’re still learning about our client and vendor needs and queries they might have. You must never stop learning and sharing findings with other members of the team and wider business.
  5. Intelligence – AR/AP is complicated, and you will need to be constantly evaluating progress and considering the impact of decisions made and impact across our internal teams and our clients and vendors.
  6. Drive – You will need to be able to work independently as well as be a team player, self-source solutions and leverage your internal network to resolve issues.

What will you do? (The role)

Accounts Receivable

  • Establish credit limits and evaluate the creditworthiness of customers.
  • Develop and implement effective credit control policies and procedures to minimise credit risk and improve collection efficiency.
  • Manage credit and receivable accounts to contribute to the organisation’s overall financial stability and profitability.
  • Monitor credit exposure and minimising bad debt risks at the organisation.
  • Assist in collecting delinquent accounts and applying strategies to encourage timely payments.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, while effectively mitigating credit risks and ensuring timely collections.
  • Conduct regular credit reviews and reassess credit limits based on payment history and changes in creditworthiness.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as sales, customer service and finance to handle all credit-related matters appropriately.  

Accounts Payable

  • Post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
  • Provide other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization.
  • Maintain meticulous records of outstanding payables.
  • Ensure the accuracy of an organization’s financial documents for payment, auditing and tax purposes.
  • Protect businesses against unintentional overpayment.
  • Practice effective monitoring to ensure payments are made to vendors in a timely manner.
